TEST TUBES

USAGE OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF GLASS AVAILABLE:
Soda glass test tubes are suitable for general mixing and will withstand gentle
warming, e.g. in a water bath. They should not be placed directly into open flames.
Neutral glass test tubes will withstand moderate temperature change, but should
not be taken from cold and placed directly into the hottest part of a burner flame
without pre-warming. They have good chemical resistance and are suitable for use
with samples which are susceptible to pH change.
Borosilicate glass test tubes are suitable for all normal laboratory applications. They
will withstand temperature change up to and including boiling of samples. They are
also highly chemically resistant.
