A small portable instrument which indicates wind velocity in four different units.
The hemispherical plastic cups are attached to a spindle assembly rotating on ball
bearings. Fixed to the lower end of the spindle is a permanent magnet. Within the
air gap between the magnet poles is a light alloy cylinder, mounted on jewelled
pivots and restrained against rotation by a hair spring. The deflection produced as
the spindle rotates is approximately proportional to wind sped and is indicated by
2 red phosphorescent pointers on a white scale visible through the transparent
         plastic body.
